Scott A. Leonard, CFP

Scott A. Leonard, CFP™ is the founder and owner of Leonard Wealth Management. His credentials include Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP), and Certified Estate Adviser (CEA™).

In addition to running Leonard Wealth Management, Mr. Leonard is an instructor at UCLA Extension, teaching courses in the financial planning certificate program. He is also an instructor and Dean of the School of Investments for NAPFA University. He is a national speaker on investment and wealth management issues.

Mr. Leonard is a frequently published author, specializing in advanced investment theory, and has been the featured financial planner for the Los Angeles Times weekly "Money Make-Over" column.

Mr. Leonard assumes a leadership role within the financial planning and wealth management profession, holding numerous board positions with esteemed associations, including: 

  • Past president and chair of the Financial Planning Association, Los Angeles Chapter
  • Various board positions with the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors
  • Multiple positions on national committees dealing with ethics and professionalism in the financial services industry.

Mr. Leonard graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. His CFP™ credential was earned in 1994 and his CEA™ certificate in 2002.

Mr. Leonard spends his personal time with his wife, Mandi, and sons, Griffin, Jake and Luke, enjoying the many benefits of life on the Pacific Coast: sailing, surfing and bike rides on "the Strand".

 

Eric Toya

Eric Toya, CFP

Business Background

Mr. Toya joined the staff of Leonard Wealth Management, Inc. in July 2007 after more than ten years of experience in financial services.  He started his career in banking and insurance before joining Charles Schwab and Co., Inc. as an Investment Specialist.  Most recently, Mr. Toya was a Vice President, Client Relations at Churchill Management Group.
Mr. Toya has been quoted in national publications, including the Los Angeles Times and the Investment News.

Mr. Toya is a member of NAPFA and the Financial Planning Association.

Education

Mr. Toya has completed the CFP™ professional education program from the College for Financial Planning and earned the CFP designation in 2007.

Mr. Toya graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Accounting.

Away From the Office

Eric is a South Bay native, growing up in Torrance, and an alumnus of Torrance High School.  He is currently busy planning his wedding with his fiancée, Angelica.  Together they enjoy traveling, participating in 5k runs, cooking and trying new foods.

In the community, Eric is a participant in Banking on Our Future, Operation Hope’s financial literacy program for Jr. High and High School students.  Eric is also active in Hoops for Friends, a non-profit group that organizes a charity basketball tournament to benefit several charitable organizations and fund high school scholarships.
